We are delighted to announce the IUBMB–FEBS–IRB Barcelona Symposium “Glycogen: Tribute to Joan Guinovart”, which will take place on 20 March 2026, from 09:00 to 17:00 (CET), at IRB Barcelona (Spain) and online.

This special event will celebrate the scientific legacy and human spirit of Joan Guinovart, whose pioneering contributions to glycogen metabolism have profoundly influenced the fields of biochemistry, metabolism, and molecular biology.

Among the confirmed speakers are Philip Cohen (University of Dundee), Alan Saltiel (University of California San Diego), Kit Donohue (Chelsea’s Hope Lafora Children Research Fund), Matthew Gentry (University of Florida), Anna DePaoli-Roach (Indiana University School of Medicine), Marcelo E. Guerin (Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona, IBMB-CSIC), Kei Sakamoto (University of Copenhagen), Lykke Sylow (University of Copenhagen), David Komander (WEHI), Jordi Duran (Universitat Ramon Llull), Pascual Sanz (Institute of Biomedicine of Valencia), and Marc Claret (IDIBAPS).

You are warmly invited to join us in person in Barcelona or remotely via live streaming to celebrate science, collaboration, and the enduring inspiration of Joan Guinovart.

Please note that in-person places are limited, so we encourage you to register early. Online attendance is open to all interested participants.
